Graduate Program: Public Management
Program Overview: The Master’s Degree Program in Public Management (First-level Discipline) at South China Normal University (SCNU) boasts a profound historical foundation and burgeoning development. The program comprises four research areas of specialization: Public Administration, Educational Policy and Management, Social Security, and Public Policy. Inextricably embedded in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), our program synergistically integrates practices of regional governance with frontier theories and methodologies. Delving into local governance innovation, evidence-based public policy analysis, educational leadership enhancement, and social security system advancement, we are dedicated to cultivate academic ecosystem, characterized by reciprocal integration between localized practice and cutting-edge theoretical framework, anchored in the mission of addressing the modernization of national governance and social welfare imperatives.
Core Courses: Our program adopts an integrated approach synergizing coursework, research, seminars and social practices. A minimum of coursework for three semesters is required. Core courses include: (1) General Compulsory Course: Advanced Chinese, Survey of China; (2) Foundational Course of the Discipline: Public Management, Research Methods of Social Science, Thesis Writing and Academic Norms; (3) Core Specialized Course: Chinese Government and Politics, Public Policy Analysis.
